A Terrible Display at the Children's Museum

Where are the children at your Children's Museum? I take son there to show him proud history of work, see children with broad shoulders. We pay days wages to get into place, even though is built with tax dollars (only in democracy you find this, don't like this part) and was very disappointed to see only three kinds of children: the white, the Mexican, and the black people you call African-American. It is strange that city that puts this peculiar 'world class' label on everything from hot dog to murder rate only has three kinds of children in its museum. Is nothing like the one we have in capital of Casablanca my father take me to as child, children from all over the world there.

I think to myself, where are Asians, Arabs, Indians (the people of India, am not sure why people who work at casino are called Indian. Your forefathers must have been very fond of curry to insist that these people be Indians for so long). And then I think that it seems like you just catch what is in your backyard and put it in museum. Is not much to teach boy about all the different peoples in the world, just a collection of the children you find in the street. I thought Chicago like New York City but is like Disneyland with only three rides. Should be more like the Benetton ad on bus, no? If you can bring animals from all over the world to your free zoo in Lincoln's Park, why can't you get a better selection of children? They are much cheaper to ship and can live in smaller space.

I make best of it, introduce him to white boy, but his mother seem very scared of us. I am not sure why she take him there if she doesn’t want him to see different kinds of children. I introduce him to black boy and they play very nicely until boy tells him we're African-American. He get very confused and then go away.

But we learn, we find out whites indigenous to north side, Mexicans go to west side, and black African-Americans stay on south side. Also find out you have special sections for Chinese and Greek in city, but not enough children to put in museum for permanent display. I am surprised that city that want to be so much like New York and has Mafia puppet for mayor does not have a bigger Little Italy. Maybe you tear down like other landmarks that I go looking for with son. Also see Indian driving cab, I am saving money for this ride so that I may meet him. I’m sure it is cheaper than rides at your Navy’s Pier.

I thought I do my part for great city I now call home, put boy on display, but woman say no, which very insulting in my country (both to refuse gift and be refused by woman). She says if boy want to be part of Children Museum he must come back next day. We come back again the next day so we can do our part for great society only to have another woman ask for more money. I say you should pay me for boy, you do not have Moroccan boy on display. She speak in language I don't understand – keep saying “mother” but boy tells me this is bad word. We leave, this place not good for children.

I see another place on map more appropriate for him. Next week I will bring him to Boystown.
